Description
The Varec Series 5400A Flame Arrester is an end-of-line safety device designed to prevent the propagation of flames into storage vessels, piping systems, or tank vent applications. This unit is specifically engineered for use with low flash point liquids and flammable gases or vapors, making it a critical component in petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, and other industrial applications where flame propagation poses a risk.
The arrester employs two key principles to stop flames: heat dissipation—where the temperature of the flame front is reduced below the flash point of the vapor—and quenching of Class ‘D’ vapors, achieved through the spiral wound and crimped bank element. It features a large free area, minimizing pressure drop and optimizing flow capacity.
The Varec Series 5400A is UL and FM approved and is designed for vertical installation on tank vents or pipeline headers within 15 feet of the ignition source when used in accordance with UL listing standards.
