Description
This unit is part of the Metrix 5535 / 5545 family of accelerometer signal conditioners that accept signals from casing-mounted accelerometers and convert them into a proportional 4–20 mA current output for interface with PLCs, DCS systems, or other process monitoring systems. The detection circuitry is responsive to true RMS vibration, but the output scaling may be set to either RMS or peak units.
The “5545” variant includes a local digital display (3-digit LCD) of the vibration level in engineering units. It also retains the buffered dynamic signal output (via BNC) so that FFT analyzers or other diagnostic equipment can connect. The unit includes a sensor / cable integrity indicator (green LED); if the sensor or cable fails, the LED turns off and the output current drops below ~3.6 mA to signal a fault.
Additional options may include galvanic isolation, and high-/low-/band-pass filters (which affect the 4–20 mA output but not the dynamic signal).
This specific variant (100 mV/g) is intended for accelerometers that output 100 millivolts per g, enabling higher sensitivity for lower vibration levels.
